Case Study

Hypercat is a global alliance and standard (PAS 212) driving secure and interoperable Internet of Things (IoT) for industry and cities. The Hypercat specification allows IoT clients to discover information about IoT assets over the web. With Hypercat, developers can write applications that will work across many servers, breaking down the walls between vertical silos.

Traak is proud to be a Founding Member of Hypercat having been a partner in the i-MOVE project, one of Innovate UK’s IoT Demonstrator Phase I Clusters.

The i-MOVE project’s aims were to create an IoT ecosystem for transport focusing on urban “congestion corridors” to provide new services and applications from a scalable and interoperable information hub at the AIMES cloud computing campus in Liverpool. i-MOVE used data from local traffic systems, mobile cells, Highways England, social media and transport services to create a Transport Applications Store where new products and business models will be developed for freight, public and private transport.

By addressing congestion and disruption, the value proposition for the ecosystem will be enhanced and will create a sustainable facility and services. The demonstrator focused on Port access, commuter journeys and private vehicle routes on Merseyside and subsequently looked to scale to other UK cities.
